Whether you’re planning new trips or looking to meet the legal requirements for using a VHF radio, these courses help you feel prepared before you get back on the water next summer!

Online Trip Planning Series

$99 for 4 sessions over zoom

This four-evening Zoom course introduces the key skills needed to plan safe and enjoyable day trips or overnight kayaking trips. Each session focuses on a specific area: charts and navigation, tides and currents, marine weather, and route planning with risk assessment. You’ll receive handouts after each session, along with optional practice exercises so you can review the material anytime.

Online ROC(M) VHF Radio Course

$179 – Online Self-Study Course

This self-study online course covers everything required to use a marine VHF radio legally and safely in Canada. You’ll learn standard procedures, the phonetic alphabet, DSC, and when and how to make different types of calls. The written exam is completed online, followed by a short oral exam over Zoom. Once you pass, you receive the ROC(M) certificate with DSC endorsement which is valid for life. A straightforward, flexible option for anyone who spends time on the water.

In Person ROC(M) VHF Radio Course

$179, two 3-h sessions

If online courses aren’t your preference, we also offer an in-person VHF Radio Course at Jericho. This classroom session covers all the same required material and includes both the written and practical exams on site. It’s a good choice for those who learn best with a hands-on, face-to-face format or who prefer asking questions in real time. A straightforward way to get your ROC(M) certification locally.
